This December to March we are in Portugal, which means you can escape the cooold winter in the north to score some beautiful winter swells in the mild climate of the most south western tip of europe. Winter is actually the best time to get waves at the South and West Algarve.

Just catch a cheap flight to Faro or Lisbon, hop on the train or bus to Lagos and we will take care of the rest. Borat, our surf guide will take you to the best surf spots the Algarve has to offer. No need to bring equipment we provide mini mals, short- and fish surfboards from Bic and nice and warm 5/3 mm wet suits, ( 3/2mm is fine as well).

You are staying in the kite house our hostel in the center of Lagos. The day starts with a nice breakfast before we decide where we are going to surf. Borat will show you the south and west coast to find the right spot for you and paddel out to make sure you are comfortable with the surf.

In the evening you have a lot of restaurants to choose from in Lagos or you can cook your own dinner in the kitchen of the kite house. BBQ can be an option as well.
In winter there is not to much going on at night in Lagos so prepare to chill in the living room with a book, surf the net or spend some time on our playstation.

If you are keen to go kiteboarding and we don´t have surfers Borat will take you to the kite lagoon outside of Lagos on a private kitesurfing course*.

If you prefer to stay in a different accommodation option, no problem!

Our favorite when it comes to Europe is still Portugal. Our base is Ericeira-one of the best surfing spots. Just to remind – some Information:
Portugal is undoubtedly the mecca of surfing in Europe, a country with a unusual culture and stunning nature. An ideal place for all those who want to learn how to surf. Atlantic climate with mild winters and hot summers, long sandy beaches with cliffs. Add to this wonderful cuisine, warm people and the ocean – the element ruled by its own rules … Our surf base is about 60km from Lisbona, the capital of Portugal. Ericeira is one of the best surf spots in Europe. Since 1985, ASP (wQS) competitions are held here world championship in surfing. Nearby are such places as Coxos, Pedra Branca, São Julião and Foz do Lizandro – well known in this environment. So this is the perfect place to learn this sport, relax and have fun.

Something about Surf Hacienda & some pics:Our camp Ribeira Valley Surf Club House was built in 1811 and was renovated in 2007. The house is surrounded by beautiful nature. In front of the house is a veranda with an ideal climate for breakfast or dinner. In addition exept beds inside, there is a possibility of camping in the garden. The rooms are with 3, 4 beds there is also a kitchen with all necessary equipment, bathroom, wireless internet. The camp has a good vibe, and is perfectly decorated.

Location

The Ericeira Blue Ocean Surf School is located inside of the Ericeira Camping Park , on the Atlantic Coast, between Ribeira d’Ilhas Beach and Ericeira village on the Atlantic Coast.

The camp is located on only a 35 minutes drive from Lisbon and 25 minutes from Sintra.

It is an ideal starting point to discover the beautiful surroundings with the Mafra National Park, stunning coast lines with beaches, the Mafra National Palace and the Cerco Garden, an aerial of eight hectares with forest and gardens and more closeby…

Accommodation

The Blue Ocean Surf School & Accommodation offers you 8 bungalows, sleeping up to 38 people and 20 teepees, sleeping 40 people, so the camp could accommodate a group of up to  78 people in total.

The wooden bungalows are perfect for nature lovers and have the comfort of modern facilities. They are set between pine trees and very cozy with a tasteful interior.

There are 1-room bungalows sleeping 2 people, 2-room bungalows sleeping 4 people and 2 room bungalows with a lounge room and sofa bed sleeping 6 in total.

All rooms have double beds. Each bungalow has a kitchen, bathroom with shower and toilet and a terrace from where you can enjoy the ocean views. The bungalows have TV and Wifi is available. Towels and linen can be included for an extra charge.

The teepees can maximum sleep 2 people each in 2 single beds. They have shared bathrooms, which are new, modern and clean, but no linen , so bring your own sleeping bag.

The camping ground has a mini-market with a big choice of fresh products including local fruits and vegetables.

The modern and stylish cafeteria/restaurant offers snacks if you do not feel like cooking.

There is a laundry facility with dryer which can be used on extra charge. An internet point and games room with pool table is also available.

Scooter or bikes can be rented on site and surf equipment is available at the Blue Ocean Surf School.
